A Celebration of Their 26th Year – American Seasons

Warm Spring Vegetable Salad with BurattaAmerican Seasons on Nantucket recently opened their doors for its 26th year of serving regionally-focused, inventive American cuisine using the island’s finest ingredients. Executive Chef Michael LaScola and GM Orla Murphy-LaScola begin their 10th year as the restaurant’s owners and they’re excited about their new menu and bar additions. Michael’s 2013 menu is full of the usual American fare with local, seasonal ingredients. American Seasons sources as much as they possibly can from island resources and farmers with organic produce that is grown specifically for the restaurant. They also use Nantucket raised meats and fish brought in fresh from one of the island’s last remaining commercial fisherman on the Ruthie B boat. The popular vegetarian items are also featured on the 2013 menu, such as the house-made local ramp kimchi.

American SeasonsComing in June from the American Seasons team is The Proprietors Bar and Table, which is a collaboration between the LaScolas and Chef/Co-Owner Tom Berry. The restaurant, located on India street in the heart of downtown Nantucket, will offer a menu of creatively interpreted global cuisines showcasing local ingredients, a tribute to Nantucket’s early cultural exposure from sailors returning home with influences from foreign lands. You can expect dishes made with local fish and grains, and a small plates menu full of tough choices, as well as a European-focused wine selection.

KitchenIf you’re at American Seasons and you’re a steak fanatic, you’ll have to try the Pine Land Farms Beef Sirloin, which comes with Crispy Potato, Burgundy Snails, Leeks, Mushrooms and a Bernaise Emulsion! Also, if you want some variety, check out the Tobacco Rubbed Duck Breast, Crispy Confit & “Foiesage”, Hazelnuts, Granola, Ginger and Rhubarb Vinaigrette. You can start out with various soups, salads, pork belly plates, sDay Boat Scallops, smoked trout, and a whole lot more.

Interior at American SeasonsAmerican Seasons has won numerous awards including Best Romantic Nantucket Restaurant (2005 & 2011) by Boston magazine.  Also, in 2009 and 2010, Executive Chef Michael LaScola was recognized as a James Beard Foundation semi-finalist for Best Chef in the Northeast. American Seasons mission is to serve regional cuisine to promote the diversity of American cooking and celebrating small American farmers through the choice of local ingredients.
